Court and civil records search
Search civil court filings and judgments associated with a name. This category covers civil matters rather than criminal ones.
What a record includes
- Case or docket number
- Case type, such as a civil judgment or small claims matter
- Filing date and current status
- Court and county
- Judgment amount where recorded
Where this data comes from
County and state civil court dockets, judgment rolls, and lien and satisfaction filings.
What it will not tell you
Being named in a civil case says nothing about the outcome or about fault, and both parties to a matter appear in the index. Status fields go stale: a judgment shown as open may have been satisfied without the satisfaction being indexed. Sealed and expunged matters are excluded, as are most family and juvenile proceedings, and small claims coverage varies widely between counties.
Other record types
- Criminal records
- Sex offender registry
